The Geisinger Health System Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Residency is a four-year categorical program that includes a built-in internship. Clinical training occurs across multiple inpatient/outpatient sites, including Geisinger Medical Center, Geisinger Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital, and Geisinger Bloomsburg Hospital. Geisinger is a nonprofit health service organization serving one million residents in central and northeastern Pennsylvania. The program director is Ryan Roza, MD.
Residents at Geisinger will gain experience in managing a diverse patient population in both inpatient and outpatient settings. The program emphasizes excellence in academics, patient care, and professionalism. Residents receive one-on-one mentorship from faculty and are encouraged to actively engage in clinical research. They can present their research at national and international meetings.
The Geisinger Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Residency participates in the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP) and applications are processed through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). J-1 visa support is available for qualified international medical graduates. Interviews are held on selected Fridays from late November through mid-January.
