Hidalgo Medical Services Program

Family medicine - Silver City, NM | ACGME Code: 1203400708

The Hidalgo Medical Services Family Medicine Residency Program (HMS FMRP) is committed to training quality family medicine physicians while maintaining compliance with the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) standards. The program is funded through the Health Resources Services Administration (HRSA) Teaching Health Center program.

The program follows a 1+2 model where residents spend the majority of their first year of training at Memorial Medical Center in Las Cruces, followed by two years of residency education in Grant and Hidalgo counties at HMS and with local providers.

Recent appointments include Oliver Hayes, DO, as the Designated Institutional Official (DIO) responsible for program oversight, and John Andazola, MD, as the Program Director. They aim to ensure the continued accreditation of the residency program.

The HMS FMRP has established partnerships with various healthcare providers and institutions to support resident education. Since its inception in 2013, the program has graduated 13 resident physicians.

Additionally, the program supports ongoing education for residents through partnerships with various medical providers and institutions. The community at Hidalgo Medical Services would like to thank Dr. Darrick Nelson for his dedication in establishing and overseeing the program.

For more information or to apply for the program, interested individuals should contact Hidalgo Medical Services directly or visit their website for specific application requirements.
