The Humboldt Park Family Medicine Residency Program is a collaborative partnership between Erie Family Health Centers and Northwestern Feinberg School of Medicine. It is an 8-8-8 program focused on providing quality education and patient care through clinical excellence, scholarship, and leadership. Rooted in their identity as one of the original Teaching Health Center residency programs, they aim to develop family physicians who are leaders in primary care and advocacy for underserved communities.
The program accepts eight residents each year and is located in the Humboldt Park area of Chicago. Residents provide care primarily at the Humboldt Park location of Erie Family Health Centers and Swedish Hospital.
Key Features: - Mission: Dedicated to training outstanding family medicine physicians with a focus on excellence in clinical care, leadership, and scholarship, especially for the underserved. - Aims: Achieve clinical excellence, support scholarly activities, train in leadership, and recruit diverse residents. - Leadership & Community Medicine: Residents learn from diverse patient populations and have a unique leadership curriculum. - Maternal Child Health: Provides OB continuity and newborn/pediatric care under faculty supervision. - Teaching Health Center: A federally funded center aimed at producing competent primary care physicians for underserved communities. - Research: Emphasis on scholarly activity and investigating ways to provide higher quality services. - Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: Commitment to diversity of learners and creating an inclusive learning environment.
Application Process: - Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) application accepted starting in September. - Holistic application review including CV, transcripts, exam scores, letters of recommendation, and personal statement. - Fluency in English required, Spanish recommended. - Interviews will be virtual during the 2023-2024 Match season. - International Medical Graduates welcome, but the program does not sponsor visas. - No audition rotations or home school consideration.
