Lahey Clinic Program

The Interventional Pulmonary Fellowship at Lahey Hospital & Medical Center is a one-year program designed to provide extensive training in the diagnosis and treatment of complex airway and pleural diseases. This fellowship stands out as it extends beyond the typical pulmonary and critical care fellowship, focusing specifically on interventional techniques. • Advanced diagnostic flexible bronchoscopy
• Airway applications of balloon bronchoplasty
• Endobronchial ultrasound-guided transbronchial needle aspiration (TBNA)
• Robotic navigational bronchoscopy
• Pleural biopsy and pleurodesis
• Rigid bronchoscopy
• Percutaneous dilational tracheostomy
• Photodynamic therapy

The fellowship also encourages fellows to participate in international recognized courses such as the Lahey Interventional Course, enhancing their educational experience further.

Research Opportunities1

Fellows are required to complete an interventional research project, present at regional or international meetings, and publish a paper on an interventional pulmonary topic. Eligibility and Application Requirements1

To apply for the fellowship, candidates must have completed a pulmonary and critical care medicine fellowship and be eligible for a full Massachusetts medical license. Notably, applicants who require J-1 or H-1B visas cannot be considered for this fellowship. The program is accepted into the NRMP match program.
