Loma Linda University Health Education Consortium Program

The Loma Linda University Internal Medicine and Pediatrics Residency program is a four-year program jointly sponsored by the departments of Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. Residents in this program receive broad, in-depth training to provide skilled, compassionate care to both adults and children. The program boasts a unique learning environment where residents practice as primary care providers at a separate clinic. They serve a large and diverse patient population, including a mix of private and public insurance patients, with a referral base covering 4.6 million people. Graduates are prepared for a variety of clinical settings, including primary care, hospitalist medicine, fellowship training, and hospital leadership.

The program is led by faculty and residents representing diverse backgrounds and beliefs, fostering the ability to provide whole person care. Emphasis is placed on serving underserved populations, particularly in San Bernardino, one of the lowest-income cities of its size in the U.S. The residents partake in a Med-Peds continuity clinic and gain exposure to a broad range of patients, disease processes, and severity levels.

Residents receive a competitive compensation package that includes stipends at varying levels based on post-graduate year, along with housing and meal allowances. Pettis VA Medical Center, Social Action Community Health System, and Loma Linda University Moreno Valley Medicine & Pediatrics Clinic. Residents have the opportunity to engage in research and pursue educational concentrations in areas such as education and teaching, global service, health disparities, and lifestyle medicine.
