University of California (San Diego) Medical Center Program

The University of California San Diego (UC San Diego) Medical Center Program offers a General Psychiatry Residency program that immerses residents in a developmental training environment in the vibrant city of San Diego. The program focuses on progressively challenging residents to become competent, skilled, and empathetic psychiatrists across various specialties including inpatient, outpatient, consultation-liaison, geriatric, community, forensic, addiction, and child/adolescent psychiatry. The program integrates biological, psychological, and sociocultural factors in training. Residents are expected to excel in patient care, medical knowledge, interpersonal skills, professionalism, and more.

The UC San Diego Obstetrics & Gynecology Residency Program is a 4-year fully accredited program designed to nurture future leaders in the field. The program emphasizes balanced instruction in obstetrics, gynecology, and subspecialties like gynecologic oncology, maternal-fetal medicine, and reproductive endocrinology. Residents benefit from diverse patient populations and clinical experiences, including partnerships with Planned Parenthood and a Ryan Residency Program. Each resident participates in faculty-mentored research or quality improvement projects to enhance their skills and knowledge.

For the Psychiatry Residency Program, important dates include a half-day retreat on Sept. 21, 2023, the Prite Exams on Oct. 3rd & 5th, 2023, a Holiday Party on Dec. 14th, 2023, a Resident Full-Day Retreat on May 2nd, 2024, and Graduation in June 2024.

The Obstetrics & Gynecology Residency Program at UC San Diego requires applications through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) and interviews a total of 60 candidates for 6 slots. After completion, residents are expected to be prepared for academic or community leadership roles or further subspecialty training. The program's mission is to develop physician leaders with an evidence-based fund of knowledge, clinical and surgical skills, and compassionate care approach.
