The Mass General Brigham/McLean Hospital Psychiatry Residency Program is designed to train the next generation of psychiatrist leaders who will contribute to local, national, and world mental health through exceptional patient care, scientific discovery, education, and service to diverse communities. Residents have the opportunity to work in diverse clinical settings across MGH and McLean Hospital, receiving expert teaching and mentorship. The program offers a combined program in adult, child, and adolescent psychiatry.
Key Components of the Program: - PGY1: The program starts with a Pediatrics internship at MGH, including rotations in adult and child neurology, adult inpatient psychiatry, and elective choices. - PGY2: Residents rotate through the MGH Acute Psychiatry Service, McLean Schizophrenia and Bipolar Disorder Inpatient Unit, community settings, and more. - PGY3: Core rotations include the Psychiatry Consultation Service at MGH, McLean Addictions Partial Program, Nashua Street Jail Rotation, and MGH Community and Public Psychiatry Rotation. - PGY4: The focus is largely elective, allowing residents to design their learning program with support from mentors.
