Medical College of Wisconsin Affiliated Hospitals Program

The Otolaryngology Residency Program at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) offers a comprehensive five-year training program. Residents train at four prestigious hospitals, including Froedtert Hospital, Children's Wisconsin, the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center, and Froedtert Hospital Menomonee Falls.

The program emphasizes a dynamic clinical, surgical, and research experience under the leadership of dedicated fellowship-trained faculty. Residents are trained to become well-rounded clinicians and future leaders in otolaryngology with a focus on promoting a healthy work-life balance and lifelong learning.

Residents have the opportunity to work with a diverse group of specialty trained otolaryngologists and engage in cutting-edge research, supported by a robust Division of Research with substantial external funding. The program is designed to develop residents who provide exceptional patient care and are poised to become leaders, researchers, and educators in the field.

The curriculum includes rotations at different hospitals, each providing a unique patient care perspective. In addition to clinical and operative experiences, residents participate in educational opportunities such as multidisciplinary tumor boards, facial trauma conferences, and a variety of educational conferences and workshops.

To apply, all applicants must use the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) and submit a completed application including the ERAS application, at least three letters of recommendation, dean's letter, personal statement, medical school transcript, and USMLE/COMLEX scores. International medical graduates must follow ECFMG guidelines.

Approximately 50 candidates are interviewed each year, with three residents matched annually. Elective rotations are available for prospective applicants to learn more about the program and for faculty to assess candidates. Residents receive dedicated instruction on core otolaryngology topics and engage in various educational activities to develop clinical skills and knowledge.
