The Medical University of South Carolina Program offers a fully accredited training program in anatomic and clinical pathology (AP/CP). The program includes a 40-month core curriculum with 8 months of electives. Core rotations cover various areas such as autopsy pathology, surgical pathology, cytopathology, dermatopathology, clinical chemistry, microbiology, and more. Elective time allows for more in-depth studies in specific areas of interest or research.
The program is accredited for twenty-two residency positions in anatomic pathology and clinical pathology, with an even distribution of residents at all levels. Fellowships in various pathology subspecialties are offered at the discretion of the Chair.
The MUSC Teaching Hospital System and the Charleston VA provide abundant clinical material for the training program. The program handles a significant number of anatomic pathology cases, laboratory tests, and procedures annually. Residents have access to various hospital facilities for training.
