During PGY-2, residents choose their career tracks based on their interests, which include general pediatrics and subspecialties such as hematology, oncology, and adolescent medicine. This year emphasizes increasing responsibility, as residents step into supervisory roles for interns and junior residents while refining their clinical decision-making skills. PGY-3 focuses on leadership and mentorship, and residents participate in community health rotations, alongside their electives that may include opportunities for research.2

The program's clinical experiences are robust and varied. Residents work in an environment that sees over 50,000 visits annually in the Pediatric Emergency Department alone. Application Requirements and Competitiveness

To apply for the Pediatric Residency Program, candidates must submit a completed ERAS application, a personal statement, three to four letters of recommendation, a Medical School Performance Evaluation (MSPE), medical school transcripts, and USMLE Step 1 or COMLEX-Level 1 results. The program is designed to be accessible to both US and international medical graduates, although candidates should meet specified requirements, including recent graduation and clinical experience.9
