Curriculum

The curriculum is structured to ensure broad exposure in various pathology disciplines:

• Surgical Pathology: 19 months - Residents handle over 55,000 surgical specimens annually, gaining invaluable experience in diagnostic skills.
• Autopsy and Forensics: 3 months - Training includes performing adult, child, and fetal autopsies under direct supervision, with rotations at the District 9 Medical Examiner's office.
• Cytology: 3 months - Residents acquire skills in both gynecologic and medical cytology, with a focus on hands-on experience.
• Hematopathology: 6 months - Offers extensive training through the evaluation of various bone marrow and lymph node biopsies.
• Blood Bank and Clinical Chemistry: 5 months - Involves rotations at leading laboratories to understand blood product testing and chemical analysis.
• Microbiology: 3 months - Residents engage in diagnosing a comprehensive range of microbiologic infections.
• Additional specialized training in immunology, electron microscopy, and laboratory management enhances the clinical pathology training.

Each applicant is required to submit a personal statement, USMLE Step scores, three letters of recommendation, and a Dean's letter. International Medical Graduates must provide evidence of ECFMG certification and successful completion of the USMLE Step exams.
