The Orlando Health General Surgery Residency program is a five-year, ACGME-accredited program offering a comprehensive surgical education experience. The program includes six categorical first-year positions and six preliminary positions. The residents rotate through different hospitals within the Orlando Health system, including Orlando Regional Medical Center, Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children, and Dr. P. Phillips Hospital, providing exposure to a diverse patient population, surgical cases, and trauma services.

As a resident at Orlando Health, you will have access to over 18,000 operative procedures and 80,000 emergency visits annually. In addition to surgical training, the program offers accredited fellowships in Surgical Critical Care and Colon and Rectal Surgery. The program's faculty consists of experienced surgeons specializing in various fields, providing a well-rounded educational experience.

Residents at Orlando Health have the opportunity to work in a Level One Trauma Center, participate in robotics surgery, and engage in state-of-the-art technological advancements. The program also emphasizes research involvement, requiring residents to complete research projects and present their findings at regional or national meetings.

Orlando Health supports diversity and offers a Visiting Medical Student Scholarship for underrepresented minority students interested in pursuing a residency in general surgery. For application information, interested candidates need to submit their materials through ERAS during the application window. Invited applicants can interview between November and January.
