The MetroHealth System/Case Western Reserve University Program
Radiology-diagnostic - Cleveland, OH | ACGME Code: 4203821242 | NRMP Code: 1553420A0
The MetroHealth System/Case Western Reserve University Radiology Residency program offers a unique blend of academic medicine and immersive clinical experience in a collegiate practice environment. The program focuses on resident education with an emphasis on providing a balanced education in inpatient and outpatient radiology throughout the four years of training. Residents benefit from working closely with over 30 subspecialty trained faculty, receiving hands-on diagnostic and interventional training as well as a comprehensive curriculum in radiologic physics.
Residents have the opportunity to engage in daily afternoon didactics, Grand Rounds discussions, and interdepartmental conferences with healthcare professionals. The program also offers an Early Specialization in Interventional Radiology (ESIR) pathway and a combined Interventional Radiology/Diagnostic Radiology (IR/DR) residency in collaboration with the Cleveland Clinic Foundation.
This medium-sized training program offers 5 Diagnostic Radiology training positions per year. Residents experience a variety of rotations throughout the four-year program, including Body CT/MR, Neuroradiology, Pediatric Radiology, and Vascular/Interventional Radiology, among others. Additionally, senior residents can tailor two separate 3-month mini-fellowships to suit their educational needs and interests.
The program encourages all qualified applicants to apply, regardless of their background or year of graduation from medical school. The selection committee reviews applications holistically and does not apply set screens to the applicant pool. However, candidates with a failing score on a USMLE/COMLEX Step exam may receive lower priority for consideration.
The application process requires the completion of several documents, including a personal statement, Dean's Letter, medical school transcript, and three letters of recommendation. The deadline for applications and all required items is November 1st. Invitations for interviews are offered as applications are reviewed and sent via email.
The program supports both J1 and H1B visas for qualified applicants. Residents also have access to salary, benefits, educational funds, health, and wellness initiatives within the program.
For more information or inquiries, interested individuals can contact Michael Markovic, MD, the Residency Program Director, or Michelle Butler, the Residency Program Coordinator.
