University of Central Florida/HCA Florida Healthcare (Gainesville) Program

The University of Central Florida/HCA Florida Healthcare (Gainesville) Program in Internal Medicine provides a dynamic and comprehensive residency program with a focus on professional growth, innovation, and education. This program is a partnership between HCA Healthcare and the U.S. Veteran’s Administration, offering residents the opportunity to train at two nationally recognized leaders in adult patient care facilities: Hospital Corporation of America Florida’s Osceola Hospital and the Orlando VA Medical Center.

Program Highlights: - Residents gain experience in a large tertiary care hospital and one of the nation’s largest veterans healthcare facilities. - Offers a class size of 25 for a total of 75 categorical residents. - Features a 4+1 schedule for a balanced in-patient and out-patient experience. - Includes innovative educational approaches like an academic half-day and a comprehensive curriculum covering medical knowledge, professional development, healthcare disparities, and more. - Emphasizes diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) throughout the residency journey. - Provides a strong mentorship program and resident-led interest groups. - Focuses on resident and faculty wellbeing. - Supports J1 visas for International Medical Graduates (IMGs).

Application Information: - Participates in the NRMP Match and accepts applications through ERAS. - Requires ERAS application form, MSPE, Transcript, minimum 3 Letters of Recommendation (one being a department of medicine chair letter), passing scores on USMLE Step 1, Step 2 Clinical Knowledge (CK), and a preference for applicants within 2 years of medical school graduation. - For DO applicants, COMLEX scores are accepted in place of USMLE scores. - For IMGs, eligibility for ECFMG certification by the match and J1 visa sponsorship is available, with preference for those with U.S. clinical experience. - The interview process takes place from October through January.
