Training and Clinical Experience

Fellows will have the privilege to train under eight board-certified cardiac electrophysiologists. This program is held in a large academic medical center that facilitates a robust clinical and research program. Key features include:

  • Dedicated training time in four electrophysiology (EP) labs with high procedure volumes, performing more than 1,000 cardiac ablations annually, which includes Atrial Fibrillation and Ventricular Tachycardia procedures.
  • Experience with over 1,000 device implantations such as Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillators (ICDs) and pacemakers.
  • Approximately 100 lead extractions and 130 Left Atrial Appendage closures.
  • Engagement in both inpatient and outpatient consultative services.
  • Significant research initiatives, including participation in multi-center, industry-sponsored, and investigator-initiated studies.

Research Opportunities

Research is a critical component of the fellowship, and fellows are encouraged to engage in both clinical and translational research projects. There is allocated dedicated research time, and fellows have the opportunity to work with major mapping and ablation systems including CARTO, Precision, and others. Additionally, exposure to investigational devices and collaboration with major device vendors provides a comprehensive research experience.
