The University of Louisville School of Medicine offers an Independent Interventional Radiology Residency Program. The program is ACGME-accredited, with the first resident appointment starting in July 2021. Both Early Specialization in Interventional Radiology (ESIR) and non-ESIR candidates are considered. The program provides broad exposure to various patient care and management areas, including Interventional Oncology, Hepatobiliary interventions, Pulmonary interventions, Arterial procedures, Venous procedures, and Lymphatic procedures. Residents have rotations in neurointerventional and vascular surgery departments. Call responsibilities are shared between residents with an anticipated call burden of about q4. Additionally, the fellow participates in general ER extended call shifts. The program offers a stipend and benefits, including health, malpractice, disability, life, and accident insurance. Residents also have access to university fitness facilities and discounts on various activities. Application to the program is managed through ERAS, with interviews typically conducted between January-March annually.
