The Vascular and Interventional Radiology (VIR) department at Rush University Medical Center (RUMC) offers a comprehensive training program for residents. The VIR section is staffed by six full-time interventional radiologists who provide services at RUMC Downtown and Rush Oak Park Hospital. Residents at Rush VIR gain experience in diverse procedures, including oncology interventions, arterial/aortic disease management, venous thromboembolic disease, hemodialysis access procedures, pain and musculoskeletal interventions, transplant procedures, genitourinary interventions, and men's and women's health procedures.
Training occurs at various sites within the Rush System of Health, including Rush University Medical Center in downtown Chicago, Rush Oak Park Hospital in Oak Park, IL, the Rubschlager Oncology and Neurosciences Center, and Rush Copley Medical Center in Aurora, IL.
To apply for the VIR training program at Rush, applicants must have completed a residency in diagnostic radiology and be board-certified or board-eligible. International medical graduates must have completed a diagnostic radiology residency in their home country and have a valid radiology board certification, in addition to passing the USMLE Steps. Applicants need to submit letters of recommendation and meet specific application deadlines.
