The Rush University Medical Center Dermatology Residency program is a three-year training program that aims to provide residents with a strong foundation in all aspects of dermatology. The program is fully accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education and the American Board of Dermatology. With nine full-time and 15 part-time and affiliated faculty members, the program offers residents a highly personalized training experience.
Application requirements include satisfactory completion of the transitional or preliminary year in internal medicine, general surgery, family practice, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, or emergency medicine at a board-approved, accredited U.S. or Canadian medical school. Additionally, applicants are required to have a valid license to practice medicine in the State of Illinois. Rush University Medical Center Dermatology Residency accepts two residents each year through the National Resident Matching Program.
The residency program focuses on experiential learning to build competence in the diagnosis, pathogenesis, treatment, and prevention of skin diseases. Residents have opportunities for clinical research and quality improvement projects to enhance their understanding of cutaneous diseases and improve clinical care.
