The University of Michigan Health-West Family Medicine Residency Program, located in Grand Rapids, Michigan, is an ACGME-accredited program with initial accreditation for Osteopathic Recognition (OR). Applicants must have graduated within one year of the match, pass Step 1 and Step 2 USMLE or COMLEX Level 1 and 2, and meet minimum Osteopathic Principles and Practice requirements. The program typically receives between 100-150 Osteopathic and 250-300 Allopathic applications for its positions. Interviews are conducted in person and the program does not generally sponsor visas for medical residents.

The program aims to produce well-trained family medicine physicians dedicated to caring for the underserved population in the greater Grand Rapids area. The curriculum spans three years, focusing on population health and developing independent practitioners who are leaders in their communities.
