Trinity Health Grand Rapids Program

The Trinity Health Grand Rapids Family Medicine Residency Program (GRFMR) is a well-established and highly-respected program in the Grand Rapids community. Founded in 1973, the program offers full-scope Family Medicine training to prepare residents for diverse career paths in Family Medicine. Residents have the opportunity to engage in a robust inpatient service, outpatient clinics, and rotations in hospitals like Helen DeVos Children's Hospital and Spectrum - Butterworth. The program emphasizes creating a supportive environment with a strong sense of community among faculty and residents.

Unique features of the program include an Ultrasound Curriculum, Didactic learning opportunities, Sports Medicine Rotation, OB Focused Curriculum option, and further specialization in Prenatal Care and Deliveries.

Application requirements for the program include being a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or qualifying for J-1 Visa sponsorship, and meeting certain licensing criteria. Applicants must also have a passing score on USMLE Step 1/COMLEX Level 1 and attain a competitive score on USMLE Step 2 CK or COMLEX Level 2 CE.

The program accepts applications through ERAS with a deadline of November 15 and conducts interviews primarily on Tuesdays in October, November, and December. Networking and social bonding are encouraged throughout the program, with initiatives such as wellness walks, intern bonding days, and residency-hosted events.
