Trinity Health Livingston Hospital Program

The Family Medicine Residency Program at Trinity Health Livingston is a fully accredited program with 21 positions available. This program also provides Osteopathic Recognition for eligible residents. The hospital is a progressive 66-bed community hospital with various services including an emergency department, adult medicine inpatient service, critical care unit, and surgery services. It is located in Howell, Michigan, and will be moving to the Brighton campus in 2026.

Livingston County offers a suburban/rural setting centrally located between Lansing, Ann Arbor, and Detroit. The area provides access to professional & collegiate sporting events, great restaurants, and various outdoor activities like parks, lakes, biking paths, and skiing facilities.

The residency program has a unique curriculum that includes a 2-week mini-block schedule and emphasizes a team-based and family-friendly atmosphere for training. Applicants are preferred to have graduated from medical school within the last 24 months, completed part 2 for either USMLE or COMLEX within 3 years of application, have three letters of recommendation, ECFMG certificate (if applicable), and at least two months of clinical rotations in a US hospital. J1 Visas are accepted, but the program does not sponsor any visa type.

Residents in the program have opportunities for a diverse range of learning experiences, including outpatient, inpatient, surgery, OB/GYN, pediatrics, orthopedics, emergency medicine, and more. The program also provides access to various faculty members specializing in family medicine to guide and mentor residents throughout their training.
