The Tennessee Board of Medical Examiners stipulates that applicants for medical licensure must have graduated from approved schools. The residency can sponsor the J-1 visa for eligible international participants. J-1 visas are intended to facilitate training for residents who are pursuing graduate medical education in the U.S.
