Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge Program

The Methodist Family Residency Program at Covenant Health located in Oak Ridge, Tennessee is an unopposed family medicine residency program committed to training future doctors with excellence. The program is a community-based, university-affiliated program accredited by the ACGME.

The residency offers residents opportunities to work with the Covenant Health research operations team on research projects and publications. Quality improvement work is also a focus of the program. The program director is Dr. Jim Schindler.

Application requirements include graduation from an approved medical school within the last two years, successful completion of USMLE or COMLEX exams with no more than two failed attempts, U.S. citizenship or authorization to work in the United States, and ECFMG certification if graduating from a foreign medical school. The program also does not sponsor visas.

The curriculum includes rotations in various specialties such as inpatient medicine, obstetrics, behavioral health, pediatrics, surgery, telemedicine, and more. Electives are available in areas like cardiology, gastroenterology, neurology, and others.
