Virginia Commonwealth University-Bon Secours (St Francis) Program

The Virginia Commonwealth University-Bon Secours St. Francis Family Medicine Residency Program at St. Francis Medical Center in Midlothian, Virginia, is affiliated with Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) and opened its doors in August 2005. The program is fully accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education.

The program offers a quality curriculum designed to train outstanding family physicians. It is housed in a building tailored for resident education and clinical care, providing a mix of rural and suburban-based academic and clinical faculty. Subspecialty preceptors are sourced from a network of Bon Secours affiliated physicians.

Residents have the opportunity to rotate through Bon Secours St. Francis Medical Center, other Bon Secours Health System hospitals, and participate in community outreach programs such as Care-A-Van, a mobile health clinic.

Application to the program is only accepted through ERAS, and the program participates in the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP). The program does not sponsor visas. The minimum requirements for consideration include being a United States citizen or permanent resident and having passed USMLE Step 1 and 2 or COMLEX Level 1 and 2.

Residents receive a competitive salary and benefits package, including CME funds and vacation time, as well as moonlighting opportunities during PGY-2 and PGY-3 years.
