Akron General Medical Center/NEOMED Program

The Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program at Cleveland Clinic Akron General is a four-year training program designed to produce well-trained OBGYN practitioners capable of general Obstetrics and Gynecology practice or pursuing fellowship training. The program has five available positions each year and is accredited by the ACGME. The teaching staff includes various subspecialists in areas like Gynecologic Oncology, Maternal-Fetal Medicine, Urogynecology, and more.

Residents have the opportunity to manage pregnant women in the Obstetric Emergency Department, develop research projects, and participate in daily educational events. The program emphasizes quality training, teamwork, and service in line with the Cleveland Clinic's values. The curriculum involves diverse clinical rotations providing exposure to various subspecialties and evolving levels of responsibility throughout the program.

The program encourages academic achievement, work ethic, and volunteerism in applicants. Application requirements include completing the ERAS application, submitting a CV, Personal Statement, Letters of Recommendation, and USMLE scores. The program accepts both domestic and international medical graduates and prioritizes U.S. clinical experience for IMG applicants. Interviews for the program start in October, and the program focuses on resident wellness with dedicated wellness sessions and times for self-care activities.
