The Ascension St. John Hospital Internal Medicine Residency Program aims to provide high-quality graduate medical education in a supervised and academic atmosphere. The program follows a milestones-based training approach to ensure residents are well-prepared for careers in general internal medicine, hospital medicine, or further subspecialty fellowship training. Faculty play an active role in organizing and implementing the Internal Medicine teaching program, providing a conducive environment for learning.

Ascension St. John Hospital requires applicants to apply through ERAS. The program receives over 3,000 applications annually and interviews approximately 10% of candidates. Selection is based on distinguishing characteristics such as USMLE and COMLEX scores, medical school graduation date, and exceptional attributes and experiences.

Interviews for the 2022-2023 Academic Year will be conducted virtually via the Zoom application. Before the interview day, applicants receive an email with the Zoom meeting link and troubleshooting contact information.
