1Curriculum
The curriculum is designed to provide a thorough grounding inboth outpatient and inpatient medicine. A notable feature of theprogram is the "4+1" system, where residents engage in outpatientmedicine in one week periods every five weeks. This encouragesresidents to build a roster of patients they manage, therebyenhancing continuity of care, which is particularly beneficial bythe second year.

Morning reports, conducted Monday through Friday,incorporate real-time internet resources and encourage debate anddiscussion among residents. 8Program Competitiveness and Application Process
The program is known to be competitive in its selection process.Applicants are typically expected to have graduated from anLCME-accredited medical school in the U.S. or Canada, or from anosteopathic school accredited by the AOA. Candidates must alsopossess USMLE Step 1 and Step 2 scores greater than 230, with nofailed attempts.
3International medical graduates (IMGs) are also encouraged toapply, provided they have a valid ECFMG certificate and areeligible to work in the U.S. candidates may apply under a J1 visasponsorship or be U.S. citizens.
3The program utilizes ERAS for application processing andparticipates fully in the NRMP. It does not offer pre-matchcontracts or consider candidates outside of the NRMP.
2Visa Sponsorship
Corewell Health is open to sponsorship of J1 visas for eligibleinternational medical graduates. This allows qualified candidatesaccess to a pathway in the U.S. healthcare system upon successfulmatching into the program. Applicants should note that assurance ofa visa sponsorship is contingent upon meeting specific eligibilitycriteria set forth by the program.
3Special Application Requirements
Special considerations include the requirement for three lettersof recommendation, of which one must be from the Dean of Students.Exceptionally strong candidates whose applications do not meettypical criteria may be considered if sponsored by a currentfaculty member in a meaningful capacity.
