The Urology Residency program at Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS) is a five-year program designed to provide comprehensive training to excel as a urologist. Residents train and conduct research under the supervision of over 25 fellowship-trained faculty members.
Training Locations: 1. Sentara Norfolk General Hospital - Level I trauma center and burn trauma unit 2. Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters - Only freestanding children's hospital in Virginia 3. Naval Medical Center Portsmouth - Tertiary care hospital and Navy teaching hospital 4. Sentara Ambulatory Care Clinic - Provides care to uninsured or underinsured Norfolk residents 5. Urology of Virginia - Outpatient practice for urological needs 6. Sentara Leigh Hospital - Specializing in various medical services 7. Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital - Offers specialized tertiary services 8. Chesapeake Regional Medical Center - Provides advanced healthcare
Application Requirements by October 2, 2023: - Application/CV - Personal statement - Photograph - Three letters of recommendation - MSPE (Medical Student Performance Evaluation) - Medical school transcript - USMLE transcript
The program participates in the American Urological Association (AUA) Urology Residency Match Program and accepts applications through ERAS. Military applicants apply through the Graduate Medical Education Selection Board (GMESB).
Residents receive exposure to a wide range of urological procedures and benefit from a comprehensive curriculum, including daily inpatient rounds, outpatient clinics, and educational activities like Interesting Case Conferences and Journal Clubs.
