The HealthONE Psychiatry residency program at The Medical Center of Aurora is designed to develop the next generation of physicians and physician leaders committed to the care and improvement of human life. The program is ACGME accredited and was established in 2017, with the first class expected to graduate in 2021.
The program offers residents a unique community hospital training environment focusing on collegiality, collaboration, and individualized learning opportunities. Residents are exposed to a diverse patient population spanning different ages, races, and socioeconomic backgrounds, creating an excellent learning environment.
The curriculum includes rotations in various subspecialty areas such as geriatric psychiatry, child and adolescent psychiatry, consultation-liaison psychiatry, ECT, eating disorders, and more. Residents have access to didactic lectures, conferences, and regular clinical case discussions to enhance their learning experience.
For application, the program accepts submissions from September to January 15th and requires three letters of recommendation, the Dean's letter, transcripts, USMLE/COMLEX transcripts, and a personal statement. Although US clinical experience is preferred, it's not required. International Medical Graduates must be ECFMG certified.
International Medical Graduates (IMGs) are encouraged to apply, and particularly well-qualified IMGs will be considered for admission. Recent graduates from medical school are preferred, but special exceptions may be considered for those with unique qualifications.
The program has a total of 32 residents, distributed across the different PGY levels. The salary for residents ranges from $62,067 in PGY1 to $68,162 in PGY4, with additional benefits such as medical benefits, disability coverage, life insurance, and more.
