University of Colorado Program

The University of Colorado Anschutz Psychiatry Residency program offers a comprehensive training experience that incorporates traditional psychotherapy, cultural awareness, and community engagement alongside modern developments in brain function. The program provides diverse clinical opportunities at leading medical centers such as University of Colorado Hospital, Denver Health Medical Center, and Children's Hospital Colorado.

Application requirements for the University of Colorado Psychiatry Residency program include being a graduate of a medical school in the United States or Canada accredited by LCME or AOA, possessing a valid ECFMG certificate for international graduates, or having relevant US clinical training experience. There is no specified minimum USMLE Step 1 score requirement, but passing scores are expected in no more than two attempts, and successful completion of USMLE Step 2 is required to start the program. Applicants for PGY-1 positions must be no more than 3 years past their graduation date.

The program offers 15 PGY-1 positions annually, receiving around 1,300 applications and interviewing approximately 145 candidates. They participate in the NRMP and accept PGY-1 applications only through ERAS. The program supports multiple tracks that applicants can apply to, each with separate program codes.
