Overview of the Interventional Cardiology Fellowship

The Interventional Cardiology Fellowship at Henry Ford Hospital is a one-year ACGME-accredited program designed for practitioners who have completed a three-year general cardiology fellowship. This program aims to equip fellows with advanced technical skills and a robust understanding of cardiovascular diseases as they relate to interventional procedures.

Each year, the program accepts three fellows, providing them with access to a diverse array of procedures and clinical experiences. • Complex coronary interventions
• Peripheral vascular interventions
• Myocardial biopsy performance
• Structural heart procedures, notably:
• PFO/ASD/VSD closures
• Alcohol septal ablation
• Percutaneous aortic and mitral valvuloplasty
• Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR)
• Percutaneous left atrial appendage closure
• Percutaneous repair for mitral regurgitation
• Balloon atrial septostomy
• Percutaneous paravalvular leak closure
• Hemodynamic support interventions

Fellows participate actively in the clinical management of patients and contribute to research endeavors, enhancing both practical and academic pursuits.
