The SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University Program in Obstetrics and Gynecology offers a comprehensive four-year training program at Kings County Hospital and The University Hospital of Brooklyn. Residents receive broad clinical exposure in obstetrics and gynecology, including subspecialty areas such as Gynecologic Oncology, Family Planning, Reproductive Endocrinology-Infertility, Urogynecology, and Maternal-Fetal Medicine.

Residents actively participate in teaching medical students and engaging in research activities. The program provides four weeks of vacation per year and supports residents presenting research papers at national meetings. Health and disability insurance, scrubs, on-call rooms, and parking facilities are provided.

Applications are only accepted through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). Completed applications received before November 10 are reviewed for formal interviews in December and January.

Throughout the program, residents perform various procedures, surgeries, and rotations tailored to each year's curriculum. Residents progress from basic clinical training to more specialized skills, including managing Labor and Delivery and enhancing surgical abilities.

In the final year, responsibilities include teaching, supervising junior house officers and medical students, and serving as a chief resident. Two chief residents are elected as Administrative Chief Residents, overseeing call and vacation schedules.

Overall, the program aims to prepare residents for successful careers in Obstetrics and Gynecology, subspecialty fellowships, or academic pathways.
