The Internal Medicine Residency Program at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria offers a comprehensive training experience within a Midwest academic setting. Established in 1955, the program provides over 66 years of expertise in resident education. Located at OSF HealthCare Saint Francis Medical Center, residents benefit from training in a 616-bed tertiary referral center and a state-of-the-art simulation center.

Residents have the opportunity to rotate through specialties such as cardiology, pulmonology, gastroenterology, and more. The program offers a Clinician Educator Track for residents interested in academic medicine and teaching. Inpatient training is conducted at OSF St. Francis, where residents work with a diverse patient population and engage in procedural training, including point-of-care ultrasound.

Outpatient training occurs at the Heartland Armstrong Clinic, where residents manage their patient panels and participate in didactic sessions to enhance ambulatory care skills. Residents have the opportunity to engage in various specialty rotations and elective experiences, pending program director approval.
