The University of Kentucky College of Medicine offers a Thoracic Surgery Residency Program designed to equip medical school graduates with the necessary education and skills to become professional thoracic surgeons. The integrated six-year program includes rotations in general surgery, endoscopy, trauma, cardiology, and cardiac imaging during the initial three years. The latter three years focus on providing in-depth hands-on experiences in adult thoracic surgery and transplantation, allowing residents to gradually attain competence and autonomy in thoracic surgical procedures.
