STEP 200Fellowship Focused Visa J1

The University of Kentucky College of Medicine offers a Thoracic Surgery integrated six-year residency program. The program aims to equip aspiring medical school graduates with the education and skills necessary to become proficient thoracic surgeons.

During the initial three years of the program, residents undergo rotations in general surgery, endoscopy, trauma, cardiology, and cardiac imaging, among other relevant fields. These rotations serve to prepare residents for the last three years, which involve hands-on operative experiences in adult thoracic surgery and transplantation.

The final three years of the program focus on enabling residents to attain competence and autonomy in performing Thoracic surgical procedures. By the end of the sixth year, residents are expected to be well-prepared for board certification and able to address the specific needs of their patients.

Please note that the program coordinators are Carolyn Grissom ([email protected]) and Program Director Dr. Shari Meyerson.
