University of Kentucky College of Medicine Program

The University of Kentucky College of Medicine offers an Integrated Interventional Radiology Residency Program that is ACGME-accredited. This program is designed to help residents become proficient in the techniques and knowledge necessary for the practice of interventional radiology (IR). The program has been structured to cater to both advancing knowledge and hands-on practical experience in one of the most dynamic subspecialties of medicine. As of July 1, 2025, the program will recruit two PGY-2 positions (physician-only) and two advanced PGY-2 positions starting from July 1, 2026.

Application Process and Requirements

To qualify for the program, candidates must have completed an ACGME-accredited clinical year or an equivalent, be eligible for Kentucky medical licensure, and meet all institutional requirements for appointment, including ACLS certification. International applicants are required to obtain ECFMG certification and a clinical visa before the start of residency training. Selection will assess preparedness, aptitude, academic credentials, communication skills, and other personal traits such as motivation and integrity.

Application materials to be submitted include: Curriculum Vitae, a completed application form, medical school transcript, Dean’s letter, letters of recommendation (including one from the residency program director), personal statement, and USMLE or equivalent test scores. Interviews are conducted virtually.
