The Indiana University School of Medicine offers a Cardiothoracic Surgery Residency program with two different training pathways: the Three-Year Traditional Program and the Six-Year Integrated Program. The Six-Year Integrated Program directly follows graduation from medical school and accepts one resident per academic year, offering either a Cardiac Track or Thoracic Track.

Graduates of the residency are eligible to sit for the American Board of Thoracic Surgery examinations. The clinical rotations and formal educational curriculum are executed at major clinical sites like IU Methodist Hospital, IU University Medical Center, Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health, and Roudebush VA Medical Center.

To apply for the Six-Year Integrated Cardiothoracic Surgery Residency Program at Indiana University School of Medicine, medical students must meet eligibility requirements and apply through the Electronic Residency Application Program (ERAS®). The program will offer two interview dates for the 2024 NRMP® Match Season on November 8th and December 6th.
