The University of Vermont Medical Center's Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship aims to cultivate a new generation of physicians skilled in providing holistic care and support for patients facing serious illnesses. Clinical Rotations
The clinical experience is organized into a 13-block structure, ensuring comprehensive exposure to various aspects of palliative care:
- Inpatient Palliative Care Consults: 4 blocks (16 weeks)
- Inpatient Hospice: 2 blocks (8 weeks)
- Palliative Care at Critical Access Hospital: 2 blocks (8 weeks)
- Home Hospice: 1.5 blocks (6 weeks)
- Rural Palliative Care and Hospice: 1 block (4 weeks)
- Pediatric Palliative Care: 0.5 block (2 weeks)
Fellows participate in longitudinal clinical experiences which allow for sustained patient relationships and continuity of care. They will work closely with attending physicians in various specialties, gaining insight into practice patterns and care goals 4.
Research and Collaboration Opportunities
Collaborating closely with academic partners, fellows have access to various research and teaching initiatives through the Larner College of Medicine.
