Carolinas Medical Center Program

Carolinas Medical Center offers a comprehensive residency program in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) that is committed to producing physicians equipped with a broad skill set. The residency is hosted at Carolinas Rehabilitation, a state-of-the-art, 192-bed CARF-accredited acute rehabilitation facility located in Charlotte, North Carolina, which has been recognized for its exceptional rehabilitation services. The program provides a combined categorical and advanced Match, fully accredited since its inception, allowing for five years of residency training, during which residents gain deep exposure to all subspecialties within PM&R 1.

The residency program is structured around a mission that focuses on training residents in various aspects of physical medicine and rehabilitation, ensuring they are prepared for fellowship training, general practice, or academic careers. Key areas of focus include neurotrauma rehabilitation, stroke rehabilitation, prosthetics and orthotics, musculoskeletal medicine, pediatric rehabilitation, and oncology rehabilitation 1.
