This program is designed to cater to both emerging and established medical professionals interested in advancing their expertise in Interventional Radiology through intensive training.
Program Structure
The program is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and provides dual certification in Interventional Radiology and Diagnostic Radiology upon the successful completion of the American Board of Radiology (ABR) certifying examination. The residency is structured into two main pathways:
- Interventional Radiology-Integrated Residency: This is a five-year program that starts at the PGY-2 level, following the completion of an accredited one-year clinical internship. The first three years are primarily focused on diagnostic radiology, while the final two years concentrate exclusively on interventional radiology duties.
- Interventional Radiology-Independent Residency: This pathway is tailored for graduates of ACGME-accredited Diagnostic Radiology Residency programs and consists of one to two years of focused training. Resident trainees from programs with an Early Specialization in Interventional Radiology (ESIR) are eligible for a one-year training program.
