Full Circle Health/Family Medicine Residency of Idaho (Nampa) Program

The Family Medicine Residency of Idaho – Nampa Program is tailored to prepare residents for comprehensive practice across various settings, with a special emphasis on providing full-spectrum care in rural and underserved communities. This residency program is sponsored by Full Circle Health, which possesses over 40 years of experience in family medicine education and aims to create a vibrant educational atmosphere that is both innovative and intimate. This structure is essential for fostering skilled Family Medicine physicians capable of addressing diverse patient needs.

The Nampa Program prides itself on its procedural training, ensuring that residents accrue substantial experience in inpatient and emergency care. Residents will primarily conduct their inpatient rotations at St. Luke’s Nampa, a newly established community hospital that supports the residency program. Notably, the program includes opportunities for extensive training in upper endoscopy and colonoscopy procedures, obstetrics, and various other surgical and non-surgical interventions, ensuring the residents are well-rounded in their clinical capabilities.

Curriculum

The curriculum is designed with flexibility in mind, enabling residents to customize their education through a combination of two optional away rotations and three rural rotations, enhancing their adaptability to different practice environments. This is particularly essential for residents aiming to serve in diverse communities post-residency. Furthermore, starting July 2019, sub-intern rotations were introduced to offer enhanced learning experiences for residents.

Inpatient Medicine

Residents will engage in hands-on clinical experiences in the hospital, providing care across a range of medical situations, including working side by side with hospitalists and other residents in a collaborative setting.

Obstetrics

The obstetrics experience allows residents to manage labor and delivery actively, offering real-time learning as they participate in the patient care continuum from prenatal visits to postpartum follow-ups.

Pediatrics

Residents will also gain exposure in pediatric medicine, collaborating closely with pediatric specialists and will care for newborns while practicing at the nearby children’s hospital.

Surgery and Procedural Medicine

Through these rotations, residents will learn surgical techniques and manage surgical patients, providing them with necessary hands-on training.1

However, a noteworthy prerequisite is a demonstrated strong connection to the state of Idaho, along with the requirement for relevant and recent U.S. clinical experience, ensuring that residents understand the local healthcare landscape.

Application Requirements

Specific application requirements are outlined for candidates wishing to join the program:

• Submission of three letters of recommendation, with at least one being from a Family Medicine physician.
• Graduates from medical school within the last three years are preferred.
• Must have passed Step 1 or COMLEX 1; passing Step 2 or COMLEX 2 is required to be ranked for the residency.
