Lahey Clinic Program

The Lahey Hospital and Medical Center Urology Residency Program is a 5-year training program that accepts 3 residents per year. Located in Burlington, Massachusetts, approximately 17 miles northwest of Boston, their program provides a comprehensive education experience. Residents rotate through hospitals with outpatient clinics and operating rooms under one roof, allowing them to gain exposure to outpatient evaluation, surgical procedures, post-operative care, and hospital follow-up.

The program offers exposure to a diverse range of cases due to their newly renovated emergency room which accommodates over 40,000 annual visits. With a faculty of over 23 staff members, residents receive training in various surgical procedures.

In terms of the application process, applicants must register online with the American Urological Association Match Program. Applications are only accepted through the ERAS electronic application system. A complete application should include the ERAS electronic form, CV, statement of personal goals, dean's letter, three letters of recommendation, medical school transcript, and USMLE Step 1 score.

For international medical graduates, applying through ERAS with first-time passing scores from USMLE Steps 1, 2 (CK, CS if taken), and 3 (if taken) is required. Applicants should be eligible for ECFMG certification and the program sponsors J1 visas only.

The program has a structured curriculum with a focus on educational support, diverse case exposure, and a strong faculty mentorship system. Additionally, those looking to enhance their knowledge of urology can participate in the acting internship program and the Lahey Urology Diversity Scholarship Program to gain practical experience and financial support during rotations.
