Mobile Infirmary Medical Center Program

The Mobile Infirmary Internal Medicine Residency aims to educate residents to effectively treat patients while embodying the core values of Leadership, Integrity, Family, and Excellent Service. Residents benefit from the robust Epic healthcare software functionalities as they actively participate in enhancing the EPIC system at Mobile Infirmary Medical Center. Evaluation and improvement are cornerstones of the training, with dedicated teaching faculty providing constructive feedback on residents' clinical examination and interview proficiency.

The program features a unique Continuity Clinic, allowing residents to engage in ongoing patient care during their training. Through the Mobile Infirmary Internal Medicine Clinic, residents provide primary care to adults while also managing Quality Improvement projects designed to enhance clinical outcomes and patient satisfaction. This two-week clinic rotation ensures that residents maintain a balance between outpatient and inpatient duties, thereby enhancing their clinical experience and fostering long-term patient relationships.

Training and Rotations

Mobile Infirmary Medical Center is a 681-bed facility, serving as a key healthcare provider for southern Alabama and parts of Mississippi. The Internal Medicine Residency program encompasses all subspecialties, with faculty members engaged across diverse areas of expertise. Residents will rotate through various departments, gaining vital experience in inpatient settings, outpatient clinics, emergency medicine, geriatrics, and more.

The program offers tailored tracks for residents. The Primary Care Track allows trainees to work closely with chronic disease management and includes rotating with primary care physicians in the community. Alternatively, the Hospitalist Track prepares residents to excel in inpatient medicine, where they will partake in various rotations including inpatient neurology, oncology, and geriatric care.
