The Psychiatry residency program at Mountain Area Health Education Center (MAHEC) in Asheville, North Carolina, aims to train excellent psychiatrists to serve rural and underserved populations in the region. The North Carolina Medical Board requires additional certifications and training for physicians who are graduates of foreign medical schools to be eligible for full licensure in the state.
