• One month at Broughton State Hospital for inpatient psychiatry.
• One month of neurology rotation at Mission Hospital.
• Two months in inpatient medicine at Watauga Medical Center.
• Three months in outpatient family medicine at AppFamily Medicine.

PGY2

The second year emphasizes continuity care with longitudinal clinics, including adult and child patient exposure. Additionally, residents will participate in a psychotherapy clinic and community-driven programs that serve students and children with special needs.

PGY3

Residents will undergo specialized psychiatry training focused on areas including child and adolescent psychiatry, geriatrics, substance use disorder, and consultation liaison practices. Continued outpatient care with adult and child patients, as well as psychotherapy, is maintained.

PGY4

In the final year, residents will engage in elective rotations and their interests, defining their career paths while continuing collaboration with rural primary care physicians as part of MAHEC’s Rural Health Initiative.
