The General Surgery Residency Program at Nassau University Medical Center, located in East Meadow, New York, offers an extensive robust training experience, facilitating a comprehensive educational journey for aspiring surgeons. This residency is part of NuHealth, encompassing a 530-bed tertiary care teaching hospital and an array of community health centers. The center hosts over 20 residency and fellowship programs, shaping the future of more than 300 medical professionals annualy. The comprehensive curriculum includes scheduled academic engagement through monthly journal clubs, biweekly tumor boards, morbidity and mortality conferences, and grand rounds. Application and Requirements

The residency program is highly competitive, inviting applications exclusively from candidates who have graduated from LCME or AOA accredited medical schools within the last five years. Applicants must display academic excellence through USMLE scores that meet or exceed 230 for Step 1 and 240 for Step 2, or equivalent COMLEX scores. Additional necessary documents include a completed ERAS application, letters of recommendation, and clinical experience in a U.S. teaching hospital.

The program is known to sponsor J-1 visas, thus providing necessary support for international medical graduates seeking training opportunities.
