The OPTI-West Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Residency Program at Casa Colina Hospital and Centers for Healthcare is a three-year program located in Eastern Los Angeles County. The residency affords comprehensive, structured training and educational opportunities, associated with the OPTI-West Medical Education Consortium.

Residents at Casa Colina Hospital work closely with attending faculty members from the medical staff, treating patients with increasing autonomy. The program offers diverse clinical experiences with exposure to numerous neurological and orthopedic diagnoses, including cases of traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, and strokes. A typical resident case load includes 10-12 patients, with opportunities to conduct over 200 electrodiagnostic studies.

The residency program accepts three post-graduate, year-two (PGY-2) physicians annually, and residents receive training in a state-of-the-art hospital environment. Casa Colina Hospital has dedicated wings for acute rehabilitation and medical-surgical care, offering residents exposure to a variety of patients.

Residents participate in rotations at other notable PM&R practices in Southern California, enhancing their clinical experience. Additionally, the program provides plenty of research opportunities through collaborations with the Casa Colina Research Institute.

The residency program encourages resident involvement in various events, including volunteering for outdoor adventures programs and annual galas aimed at patient rehabilitation celebrations.

For application details, residents are required to participate in the National Resident Matching Program and submit applications through ERAS for advanced positions. The application deadline is typically in mid-November. Required application components include Dean's Letter, letters of recommendation, medical school transcripts, CV, and examination scores.

Casa Colina Hospital and Centers for Healthcare offer competitive salary and benefits, including a housing stipend, education stipend, and subsidized medical, dental, and vision insurance.
