The Scripps Mercy Hospital Internal Medicine Residency Program is dedicated to training internists for excellence and compassionate care, focusing on clinical and academic excellence while fostering a vision for service through medicine for the underserved and marginalized populations. Clinical Training and Curriculum: Residents experience a robust clinical training at Scripps Mercy Hospital, a tertiary care hospital with diverse patient demographics, including the underserved. The curriculum incorporates a Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS) Program, extensive elective rotations, and a strong commitment to didactics, offering a comprehensive learning experience designed to prepare residents for board certification and subsequent career paths. The continuity clinic offers a true primary care experience, fostering skills in managing long-term patient care. The program also supports away/audition rotations and research rotations, promoting a well-rounded educational experience.

Application Process: - Applications are processed through ERAS, meeting the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) requirements. - Candidates must graduate from schools accredited by the Liaison Council on Medical Education and the American Osteopathic Association. - Application requirements include a curriculum vitae, MSPE, official medical school transcript, at least two letters of recommendation (one from the department of internal medicine), USMLE Step 1 and Step 2 CK scores, a personal statement, and proof of graduation from medical school within the past five years.

International Medical Graduates (IMGs): - IMGs must have a valid ECFMG certificate, a postgraduate training authorization letter from the Medical Board of California, and meet academic criteria. US clinical experience is preferred but not required, documented with a recommendation letter from a supervising physician. Notably, the program does not offer Visa support.
