The Psychiatry Residency Program at Trinity Health Livonia welcomes aspiring psychiatrists to a dynamic training environment focused on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses. The program boasts an energetic and enthusiastic faculty dedicated to equipping residents with a diverse skill set to excel in the field.

Residents at Trinity Health Livonia will have the opportunity to work within Saint Joseph Mercy Health System's hospitals in Livonia and Ann Arbor, along with various community clinics. This exposure aims to provide a comprehensive experience in evaluating patients from a biopsychosocial perspective, prescribing medications safely, conducting therapy, and collaborating with community resources for optimal patient care outcomes.

Application requirements for the program include a passing score on USMLE Step 1 or COMLEX Level 1 at the time of application, clinical experience within the past three years, and eligibility to work in the U.S. Applicants must have graduated from medical school within the last three years and be able to qualify for a full or unrestricted educational limited license in the State of Michigan. International Medical Graduates must be certified by ECFMG for application.

The residency program has set deadlines for applications through ERAS until November 1st. Only applicants who meet the criteria will be contacted for interviews during the designated interview season from October to December.

Upon completion of the program, residents are expected to be well-prepared to practice independently and make a significant impact in the field of psychiatry. The training focuses on honing skills across the six ACGME core competencies, ensuring residents are competent in various aspects of psychiatric care and patient management.

Through a structured rotation schedule, residents will engage in diverse clinical settings, including family medicine, internal medicine, psychiatry emergency services, neurology, addiction, and elective rotations. This comprehensive approach aims to provide a holistic training experience and prepare residents for a successful career in psychiatry.
