The Authority Health GME Consortium Program operates a Psychiatry Residency Program that is four years in duration. The program aims to train psychiatrists who understand the needs of low-income urban populations with severe psychiatric disorders and medical comorbidities. Residents train in community mental health centers, psychiatric hospitals, and Federally Qualified Health Centers, fostering integrated care models. The program is ACGME accredited, and completion allows residents to sit for the American Board of Psychiatry examinations.

The Psychiatry Residency Program leadership includes Dr. Theadia L. Carey MD, MS as the Program Director, and Dr. Kehinde Ayeni, MD as the Associate Program Director. The psychiatry chief residents are Nicolas Fletcher, MD, and Tamara McClain, MD.

Application to the program occurs through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). The program accepts both USMLE and COMLEX scores for application review. Graduates of the program receive continuous ACGME accreditation through 2027.

The program offers a special focus on preparing psychiatrists to work effectively with diverse patient populations affected by social determinants of health. Residents engage in training across community mental health settings, psychiatric hospitals, and Federally Qualified Health Centers to gain a comprehensive understanding of psychiatric care in urban settings. The multi-disciplinary approach and exposure to various health care professionals enable a holistic perspective on patient care.
